1997 SVX

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect connector from TCM and connector from transmission. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and transmission connector. See Figure and Figure . Resistance between terminal No. 5 of connector B68 and terminal No. 6 of transmission connector should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and transmission.
  2. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and ground. Resistance between terminal No. 5 of connector B68 and ground should be more than 100 k/ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and transmission connector.
  3. Measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle and ground. Resistance between terminal No. 4 of connector receptacle and ground should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in internal transmission harness between receptacle and duty solenoid "B".
  4. With transmission disconnected, measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals No. 6 and No. 4. Resistance should be 9-17 ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, replace duty solenoid "B".
    5. NOTE: All wheels must be off ground to perform following test. Speed difference between front and rear wheels during this step may cause ABS light to illuminate, but this does not indicate a malfunction. When A/T diagnosis is complete, perform ABS memory clearance procedure.
  5. Backprobe and measure signal voltage output from TCM. Raise vehicle on hoist. Warm engine and transmission to operating temperature. On TCS models, push TCS OFF switch to ON position. Move shift selector to "D" position. Slowly increase vehicle speed to 47 MPH (75 KM/H). Voltage between connector B68 terminals No. 5 and No. 10 should be 8.5 volts or more when wheels are locked up. If voltage is okay, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, replace TCM and retest.
  6. Return engine to idling speed and move shift selector to "N" position. Backprobe and measure signal voltage output from TCM. Voltage between B68 terminals No. 5 and No. 10 should be less than .5 volt with wheels stopped. If voltage is okay and AT OIL TEMP light illuminates, concern is intermittent and circuit has returned to normal condition. A temporary poor contact of connector or harness may be cause. Repair TCM harness or connector. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step.
  7. Check for poor contact in duty solenoid "B" circuit. If contact is okay, replace TCM and retest. If contact is poor, repair as necessary.
