Removal & Installation: Camshafts: Removal

1. Remove timing belt and camshaft sprockets. See TIMING BELT. Remove camshaft position sensor from valve cover. Remove ignition coils. Remove valve cover and gasket.
2. Loosen camshaft bearing cap bolts equally in several steps and in reverse order of tightening sequence. See Fig 1. Remove camshaft bearing caps. Mark bearing caps and arrange in order for installation. Remove camshafts.
