Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

WARNING: Wait at least 20 seconds after disconnecting negative battery cable before servicing SRS. System reserve capacitor maintains SRS power for a few seconds after battery is disconnected. Servicing SRS before 20 seconds may cause accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury.

To disable SRS, turn ignition off. Disconnect and shield negative, then positive battery cable. After battery cables have been disconnected, wait at least 20 seconds before servicing SRS. To activate SRS, reconnect positive, then negative battery cables. Observe AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
