Retrieving Trouble Codes

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire from diagnostic connector terminal No. 1 (located under instrument panel lower cover) to ground terminal. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on.

  2. Codes are displayed by indicator light flashes. Codes are separated by a 1.2-second pause between .3-second flashes of trouble code. For trouble code explanation, see TROUBLE CODES table and DIAGNOSING CODES. When no trouble codes are present, indicator light displays a .6-second flash and a .6-second pause.
  3. Codes will flash until ignition is turned off. To clear codes, turn off ignition and remove No. 25 fuse or disconnect negative battery cable.
