Piston & Piston Pin Inspection

  1. Check piston, piston pins and piston ring grooves for damage, cracks and wear. Replace components as necessary. Measure piston-to-cylinder clearance. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS SPECIFICATIONS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. If clearance is not as specified, replace piston or bore cylinder and use an oversized piston. Ensure piston pin can be inserted into piston hole using thumb pressure at 68°F (20°C). Replace pin if it is defective.
