Removal & Disassembly (Legacy)
- Remove axle shaft. See DRIVE AXLE SHAFTS under REMOVAL, DISASSEMBLY, REASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION. Remove nuts and bolts attaching lower strut assembly to rear housing. Remove rear housing.
- Remove backing plate from rear housing. Press hub from rear housing. Use a screwdriver to remove inner and outer oil seals. Remove snap ring from rear housing. See Fig 1 . Press bearing assembly out of rear housing.
