Removal (Legacy)

  1. Remove rear hub cap. Apply brakes and loosen axle shaft nut. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove axle shaft nut. Remove disc rotor.
  2. On vehicles with anti-lock brakes (ABS), remove rear speed sensor from backing plate. On all vehicles, remove brake assembly from backing plate and wire aside.
  3. Remove nut and bolt attaching lateral link assembly to rear housing. Remove nut and bolt attaching trailing link assembly to rear housing. Use a pin punch to drive out spring pin retaining inboard joint to differential. See Figure . Remove outboard joint from rear housing. Remove axle shaft.
