- After determining correct thickness of required pinion height adjusting washer, remove dummy shaft and height gauge. Adjusting washers are available in thicknesses of .1217-.1441" (3.091-3.660 mm), in .0012" (.030 mm). Install selected pinion height adjusting washer on drive pinion. Press rear bearing onto shaft.
- Insert drive pinion into carrier housing. Install previously selected preload adjusting spacer, washer, oil seal, companion flange and pinion nut. Tighten pinion nut. Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench, check pinion rotating preload and record.
