  1. After determining correct thickness of required pinion height adjusting washer, remove dummy shaft and height gauge. Adjusting washers are available in thicknesses of .1217-.1441" (3.091-3.660 mm), in .0012" (.030 mm). Install selected pinion height adjusting washer on drive pinion. Press rear bearing onto shaft.
  2. Insert drive pinion into carrier housing. Install previously selected preload adjusting spacer, washer, oil seal, companion flange and pinion nut. Tighten pinion nut. Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench, check pinion rotating preload and record.
