Removal & Installation (XT & XT6)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect steering column universal joint. Remove lower panel and ventilation duct. Remove protector. Disconnect wiring harness connectors for steering sensor, ignition switch, combination switch, control wing switch, and instrument cluster.
Remove harness retaining screws. Disconnect speedometer cable. Raise steering wheel and remove cable. Push steering wheel down and lock. Tighten tilt lock bolt beneath column bracket. See Fig 1 .

Remove steering column bracket bolts. Remove steering shaft assembly with instrument cluster. Remove nut on cluster bracket of steering column. Remove cluster and covers. Remove screws and disconnect control wings. To install, reverse removal procedure.

NOTE: To remove switch knob, push pawl inside knob with a pin and pull knob out.
