Except Justy

  1. Before adjusting Hill-Holder PHV cable, ensure clutch pedal free play is within specification. Free play at clutch pedal should be .39-.79" (10-20 mm).
  2. Free play at clutch fork should be .12-.16" (3-4 mm). If free play is not within specification, adjust clutch free play by turning adjusting nut on engine side of clutch cable release fork.
  3. Check stopping and starting performance by activating Hill-Holder on an uphill road with more than 3 degree incline. If vehicle does not stop, tighten PHV cable at PHV. See Fig 1
NOTE: Hill-Holder may not activate on a very slight incline.

  4. If Hill-Holder releases too late (engine tends to stall), loosen PHV adjusting cable at clutch release fork in small increments until smooth starting is possible. See Fig 2. If Hill-Holder releases too early (vehicle slips backward slightly), tighten cable in small increments until smooth starting is possible.
  5. To adjust Hill-Holder to apply on a slight incline, insert Shim (725807000) between side frame and PHV support bracket (raising front of PHV). Shims are .024" (.6 mm) thick and will increase PHV angle 1/2 degree. DO NOT raise front of PHV excessively. Never insert more than one shim at a time.
