- If tachometer does not operate, check for defective fuse. Replace fuse if defective. If fuse is not defective, check for power to tachometer and proper ground. If defective, repair as necessary.
- If power and ground are okay with ignition off, check continuity between tachometer terminal of instrument cluster and (-) terminal of ignition coil. Repair wiring if no continuity exists. If wiring circuit is okay, replace tachometer.
- If tachometer needle deflects beyond maximum point, will not return to zero, or will not exceed a certain point, replace tachometer.
