Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Inspection

  1. Clean camshaft journals and case surfaces. Inspect components for damage. Measure camshaft journals. Front journal is referred to as No. 1, while No. 4 is the rear of camshaft. Replace camshaft if not within specification. See CAMSHAFT  table.
  2. Measure camshaft lobe height and runout at center camshaft journal. Measure I.D. of case journal bores. Camshaft support is referred to as No. 1, while No. 4 is at the rear of the case. Replace components if not within specification.
