Piston & Rod Assembly: Installation

  1. Ensure piston ring end gap and side clearance are within specification. Install rings on piston with "R" or "N" mark toward top of piston. Lubricate piston, rings and cylinder bore with engine oil.
  2. Properly space ring end gaps on piston. Bend over pawl of upper rail and install in piston hole. See Fig 1 . Install piston into cylinder bore.
