Crankshaft & Connecting Rod: Inspection

  1. Inspect crankshaft for cracks. Check crankshaft runout at center journal and journal out-of-round. Repair or replace if not within specification. See CRANKSHAFT MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS table
  2. Check connecting rod for bend or twist. Replace connecting rod if twist or bend exceeds .0039" (.100 mm) per 3.94" (100.1 mm). Measure crankpin and piston pin bore I.D. Replace if not within specification.
