Removal & Installation

  1. Check valve guide for excessive wear or damage. If clearance exceeds specification, replace valve guide. Using an arbor press and Valve Guide Remover/Installer (899764104), press defective guides out through top of head.
  2. Using Valve Guide Remover/Installer (899764104), install Valve Guide Height Adjuster (899768603) over intake valve guide. Press in new guide until installer bottoms. Guide should project .689-.709" (17.50-18.00 mm) from surface of cylinder head.
  3. Install Valve Guide Height Adjuster (899768602) over exhaust valve guide. Press new guide until installer bottoms and guide projects .886-.925" (22.50-23.5 mm) from surface of cylinder head.
  4. Using Valve Guide Reamer (899764105), ream valve guide to provide correct clearance. Grind valve seat to ensure it is true with guide. Reface valve if necessary.
