Main & Connecting Rod Bearing: Installation

  1. Set crankshaft into crankcase. Measure thrust clearance at center bearing. See CRANKSHAFT MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS  specifications. If specification is exceeded, replace center main bearing.
  2. Tighten main case bolts to specifications and measure oil clearance of crankshaft bearings. Measure oil clearance of connecting rod bearings. See CRANKSHAFT MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS SPECIFICATIONS  .
NOTE: Position each connecting rod with the marked side (logo) facing forward. Make sure connecting rods are assembled correctly by checking their matching number. See Fig 1 .
