Disassembly & Inspection

  1. Measure valve stem installed height. If measurement is not within specification, replace valve seat and or valve. Remove valve and valve guide seal.
  2. Inspect cylinder head for damage. When disassembling cylinder head, ensure all parts are arranged in their relative order for reassembly purposes. Measure cylinder head mating surface for warpage. Warpage limit is .002" (.05 mm).
  3. Inspect the intake and exhaust seats for correct contact width. If contact surface widths are not within specification, regrind valve seats. Check clearance between valve stem and valve guide. Refer to VALVE SPECIFICATIONS  . If clearance is excessive, replacement of the valve guide will be necessary. Refer to inspection procedure under VALVE GUIDE  .
