Reassembly & Installation

  1. Install oil seals to valve guides using Oil Seal Installer (398852100). Coat stem of valve with engine oil and carefully insert through oil seal into valve guide. Install valve spring with closed coil end side facing downward towards cylinder head.
  2. Install spring retainer. Install valve spring compressor and compress valve spring. Install valve keepers and slowly remove valve spring compressor. Before installing cylinder heads, coat bolt threads with oil. Install cylinder head gaskets and cylinder heads. Tighten cylinder head bolts in 3 successive steps. See Fig 1 . Refer to the TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  3. After tightening all the cylinder head bolts, reverse removal procedures to complete installation. Tighten timing and drive belts.
