Valve Guide Inspection

  1. Check valve guide for wear or damage. If excessive wear is found, replace valve guide. Using an arbor press and Valve Guide Remover/Installer (399762103), press worn guides out through top of head.
  2. Using same valve guide remover/installer, install Valve Guide Height Adjuster (899768603) over valve guide and press in new guide until installer bottoms and guide projects .689-.728" (17.50-18.50 mm) from surface of cylinder head.
  3. Using Valve Guide Reamer (399762104), ream valve guide to provide correct clearance. Reface valve seat to new valve guide. Inspect valve seat to ensure it is true with guide.
