Valve Guide Servicing

  1. Check valve guide for wear or damage. Using an arbor press and Valve Guide Remover/Installer (899764104), press defective guides out through top of head.
  2. Using Valve Guide Remover/Installer (899764104), install Valve Guide Height Adjuster (899768603) over intake valve guide and press in new guide until installer bottoms and guide projects .689-.709" (17.50-18.00 mm) from surface of cylinder head.
  3. Install Valve Guide Height Adjuster (899768602) over exhaust valve guide and press new guide until installer bottoms and guide projects .886-.906" (22.50-23.01 mm) from surface of cylinder head.
  4. Using Valve Guide Reamer (899764105), ream valve guide to provide correct clearance. Inspect valve seat to make sure it is true with guide. Reface valve seat if necessary.
