Rocker Arm Shaft Assembly

  1. Check rocker arm shaft, rocker arm and bushing for wear or damage. Replace any worn parts. Pay special attention to position and number of all spring washers.
  2. Measure diameter of rocker shaft and inner diameter of rocker arm to determine oil clearance. Standard outer diameter of rocker shaft is .7080-.7088" (17.982-18.003 mm). Standard inner diameter of rocker arm is .7093-.7100" (18.016-18.034 mm). Standard oil clearance is .0005-.0020" (.013-.052 mm).
  3. If rocker arm surface is noticeably worn, replace rocker arm. If worn slightly in a stepped shape, use a valve refacer to correct. Replace rocker shaft spring washers if worn excessively.
