Piston Pins
- Check piston pins for damage, cracks, wear or distortion. Check connecting rod bushing to piston pin clearance. Standard outer diameter of piston pin is .8267-.8271" (20.999-21.009 mm).
- Standard piston pin-to-connecting rod bushing bore clearance is 0-.0009" (0-.022 mm). If the pin or bushing are worn beyond specification, replace bushing in the connecting rod.
- To remove bushing from connecting rod, use Bushing Remover/Replacer (499037000) and an arbor press. Ream bushing to fit standard pin.
- To replace bushing, coat with oil and press bushing into position. Drill two .12" (3 mm) oiling holes in bushing and ream bushing bore. Bushing bore measurement is .8268-.8274" (21.00-21.016 mm). After installation, ream and clean bushing to remove chips.
- Check piston bore-to-piston pin clearance. Standard clearance between piston pin and piston bore is .0002-.0004" (.004-.010 mm). Piston pin is a thumb push fit at 68°F (20°C).
