Disc & Drum: Adjustment: Hill-Holder

  1. Before adjusting Hill-Holder, ensure clutch pedal free play is within specifications. If not within specifications, adjust clutch by turning adjusting nut on engine side of clutch cable release fork. Free play at clutch pedal should be .51-.79" (13-20 mm).
  2. Check stopping and starting performance by activating Hill-Holder on an uphill road with more than 3° inclination. If vehicle does not stop, tighten PHV cable.
NOTE: Hill-Holder may not activate on a very small hill.

  3. To adjust Hill-Holder to apply on a smaller hill, insert Shim (725807000) between side frame and PHV support bracket (raising front of PHV). Shims are .024" (.6 mm) thick and will increase PHV angle 1/2°. DO NOT raise front of PHV excessively. Never insert more than 1 shim at a time.
  4. If Hill-Holder releases too late (engine tends to stall), loosen adjusting cable in small increments. If Hill-Holder releases too early (vehicle slips backwards slightly), tighten cable in small increments.
