Remove/Install Control Arm - AR35.15-P-0204SR

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Detach rear complete wheels   AR40.10-P-1100SR
2 Remove screws/bolts (3) IMPORTANT Do not unscrew bolts (4).  
3 Screw nuts (6) and shims onto suitable threaded rods (5) IMPORTANT Threaded rods (5) or bolts with a minimum length of 200 mm are to be used.  
4 Screw threaded rods (5) into threaded holes for bolts (3)    
5 Adjust distance dimension (a) by turning the nuts (6) IMPORTANT Distance dimension (a): approx. 25 mm  
6 Remove bolts (4) alternately IMPORTANT Otherwise the rear axle crossmember (7) may become tilted on the threaded rods (5).  
7 Lower rear axle crossmember (7) by unfastening nuts (6) until it is free of tension NOTES When lowering the rear axle crossmember (7) make sure that it does not come into contact with the transmission housing.
Otherwise this can lead to paint damage and corrosion on the rear axle crossmember (7).
 
8 Unscrew left or right bolt (8)    
9 Unscrew left or right nut (9) and remove washer    
10 Pull out left or right bolt (10) and remove left or right control arm (1)    
INSTALLING Install     
11 Position appropriate control arm (1) on rear axle crossmember (7) and insert bolt (10)    
12 Fit washer on bolt (10) and screw on nut (9) up to mounting surface    
13 Position control arm (1) on axle tube and screw in bolt (8) up to mounting surface    
14 Screw nuts (6) onto threaded rods (5) up to mounting surface of rear axle crossmember (7) on body IMPORTANT Screw in nuts (6) alternately on right and left sides to avoid tilting the rear axle crossmember (7) on the threaded rods (5).
When positioning the rear axle crossmember (7) on the body make sure that the guide pins (2) are inserted into the corresponding threaded holes.
 
15 Tighten bolts (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cross member for rear axle to body *BA35.10-P-1001-03B 
16 Unscrew threaded rods (5) from body    
17 Tighten bolts (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cross member for rear axle to body *BA35.10-P-1001-03B 
18 Mount rear complete wheels   AR40.10-P-1100SR
19 Lower vehicle with vehicle lift    
20 Counterhold nut (9) and tighten bolt (10) IMPORTANT The bolt (10) may only be tightened when the vehicle is completely lowered and the suspension is compressed.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, control arm to cross member on rear axle

21 Tighten bolt (8) IMPORTANT The bolt (8) may only be tightened when the vehicle is completely lowered and the suspension is compressed.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, control arm to rear axle tube
*BA35.15-P-1001-02G 
22 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200SR
