Headlamp switch-off delay, general
The headlamp switch-off delay is designed to facilitate reliable location of the vehicle in the dark.
Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence
Depending on the version of front illumination, a distinction is made between:
- H4 halogen headlamps with LED light strip (code P25 (LED & sensor package))
- H4 halogen headlamps with single LED (standard equipment)
General function sequence
The status of the combination switch is evaluated by the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/11) and transmitted by the latter over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the center SAM control unit (N10/10).
When the center SAM control unit receives the request "Release central locking" from the transmitter key, it actuates the following component for a duration of approx. t = 20 s. When a vehicle door is opened or closed, the function starts again for t = 20 s. The trunk lid is assessed as a vehicle door.
Headlamp switch-off delay (with code P25 (LED & sensor package))
- Left front ambient light (E1e23)
- Right front ambient light (E2e23)
Headlamp switch-off delay (without code P25 (LED & sensor package))
- Low beams indicator lamp (A1e67) in instrument cluster (A1) via interior CAN
- Left low beam (E1e2)
- Right low beam (E2e2)
- If an engine start (except model 453.091/391/491) or the status "Drivetrain operational, READY" (model 453.091/391/491) is detected within t = 20 s a switch is made from the headlamp switch-off delay to the auto on/off driving lights function.
