	Remove/install
1	Using the adapter, install the brake pedal retaining tool between the pedal and the driver seat	Cover brake pedal and driver seat. Otherwise the brake pedal and the driver seat may be soiled or damaged.

2	Remove left or right front wheel		AR40.10-P-1100SR
3	Loosen threaded connection of brake line with brake hose (3) and unhook brake hose (3)	: The brake hose (3) must be unobstructed at every steering angle and at every jounce position of the wheel and must not be installed twisted. Otherwise the brake hose (3) may be damaged. Retaining screw, brake line to brake hose	*BA42.10-P-1002-04SR
4	Collect brake fluid in a suitable container and seal connections with stop plugs j	Record plug	Figure
5	Remove retaining clamp (5)
6	Remove dust caps (4)
7	Unscrew bolts (2)	Screw/bolt, brake caliper to brake caliper support	*BA42.10-P-1003-10SR
8	Unscrew brake hose (3) from brake caliper (1)	When replacing the brake caliper (1). Brake hose to front floating caliper	*BA42.10-P-1001-04SR
9	Collect brake fluid in a suitable container and seal connections with stop plugs	Record plug	Figure
10	Remove brake caliper (1)	Although replacement of the brake calipers (1) as a pair is not specified by Daimler, it is recommended.
11	Remove brake linings	When replacing the brake caliper (1). Observe installation position of brake lining with wear indicator.
	Check
12	Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake piston for leaktightness and damage	Replace brake caliper (1) if dust boots are damaged.
13	Press back brake piston using resetting device	If the brake pistons are sluggish, replace brake caliper (1).
	Clean
14	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings on brake caliper (1)	While doing so, do not damage the dust boots of the brake piston, and do not use any sharp- edged or pointed objects. Otherwise, the brake caliper (1) must be replaced. Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
15	Install in the reverse order

	Check
17	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Press the brake pedal several times until the brake linings contact the brake disks	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.
