Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Potential risks 

Risk of poisoning 

Ingestion of brake fluid could lead to poisoning symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and unconsciousness. A dose of more than 100 cm³ can have deadly  consequences.

Risk of injury 

Skin damage can occur due to contact of unprotected skin with brake fluid.

Safety precautions/instructions 

• Ensure accessibility only for authorized persons.
• Only keep brake fluid in its original container.
• Only pour brake fluid in suitable and appropriately marked containers and never into beverage bottles as used for mineral water, beer, etc.
• Wear safety glasses and protective clothing such as rubber gloves.

The following points should be observed if rubber gloves cannot be worn:

• Only allow brake fluid to have contact with the skin for as short a time as possible; clean moistened skin with water and soap.
• Change moistened clothing as quickly as possible.

First aid measures 

• Clean moistened skin with water and soap.
• Change moistened clothing as quickly as possible.
• If brake fluid gets into the eyes, rinse eyes with water immediately, and contact an eye doctor if necessary.
