Do not carry out any repair operations on the refrigerant circuit in the A/C when outdoors in humid weather.
Otherwise, moisture in the refrigerant circuit reduces the cooling output of the air conditioning system and leads to damage to components.
When refrigerant lines are cut or disconnected, all connection openings must immediately be sealed using suitable air-tight stop plugs. Moisture or dirt in the refrigerant circuit reduces the cooling output of the air conditioning system and leads to damage to components.
The refrigerant reservoir or the receiver drier must be replaced:
- If the refrigerant circuit has been opened.
- If the refrigerant circuit has started to leak or was emptied completely.
- If the refrigerant is contaminated (color dark gray to black).
- If the refrigerant compressor has seized.
- If the refrigerant circuit has been damaged in an accident.
All replacement parts must be stored dry and sealed. The stop plugs in new components should only be removed immediately prior to installation.
The packaging of the receiver drier must be checked for damage. Receiver driers with damaged packaging must be disposed of.
The receiver drier must be installed no more than 20 min after the packaging is opened.
Further protection against moisture is provided by carefully evacuating the air conditioning system following repair operations. By generating a vacuum in the refrigerant circuit, the evacuation process removes any moisture that might have entered the system.
