Backup light actuation, general 

The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.

Function sequence for backup light actuation 

• On vehicles with transmission 700.1 (with code 410 (5-speed manual transmission)) 

  When reverse gear is engaged, the backup light activation/idle recognition switch (S29/5) transmits the circuit "15g" signal (supply voltage) coming from the vehicle interior fuse and relay module (F2) to the left backup light (E3e3) and right backup light (E4e4).

  This signal is also forwarded to the center SAM control unit (N10/10), where it is read in as a reverse gear status signal.

• in Model 453.091/391/491 and in vehicles with transmission 700.4 (dual-clutch transmission, with code 429 (twinamic)) 

  When the "R" gear range is engaged, the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) transmits the circuit "15g" signal (supply voltage) coming from the vehicle interior fuse and relay module (F2) to the left backup light (E3e3) and right backup light (E4e3).

  This signal is also forwarded to the center SAM control unit (N10/10), where it is read in as a reverse gear status signal.
