Remove Side Wall Paneling - Ar63.10-P-0110-05SR

The following operation steps describe a partial repair for the side wall paneling; depending on the scope of damage, it is necessary to replace the entire side wall paneling.

Shown on model 453.3 

1. Mark separating points on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas A, B and B₁ ).

   Do not make the cuts too deep.

   Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

   If the separating point in area A is selected, remove roof paneling.

2. Grind off crimped bead along wheel arch side wall paneling (1) (area C).
3. Remove remaining pieces of flanged folded edge of sidewall paneling (1).
4. Expose spot welds on side wall paneling (1) and cut out (areas D, E, F, G, H and I).
5. Heat sidewall paneling (1) in crosshatched areas using heat gun.

   Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

6. Remove side wall paneling (1).
7. Remove glue residues.
8. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

   Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

9. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
10. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area J). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
