The following operation steps describe a partial repair for the side wall paneling; depending on the scope of damage, it is necessary to replace the entire side wall paneling.

- Mark separating points on side wall paneling (1) and cut (areas A, B and B1
).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
If the separating point in area A is selected, remove roof paneling.
- Grind off crimped bead along wheel arch side wall paneling (1) (area C).
- Remove remaining pieces of flanged folded edge of sidewall paneling (1).
- Expose spot welds on side wall paneling (1) and cut out (areas D, E, F, G, H and I).
- Heat sidewall paneling (1) in crosshatched areas using heat gun.
Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove side wall paneling (1).
- Remove glue residues.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area J). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
