Remove A-Pillar Inner Section - Ar63.20-P-1104-01SR

MODEL 453.3 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on inner longitudinal member reinforcement (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = 60 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on inner longitudinal member reinforcement (1), lower A-pillar (3) and upper A-pillar (4) and cut out (areas B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas B and D).

  3. Remove inner longitudinal member reinforcement (1).

  4. Mark separating point on inner longitudinal member (2) and cut (area Q).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    B = 50 mm

  5. Expose spot welds on inner longitudinal member (2) and cut out (areas K, L, M, N, O and P).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area O).

  6. Grind off MIG solder seam on inner longitudinal member (2) and lower A-pillar (3) (areas R 1 and R 2 ).

  8. Remove inner longitudinal member reinforcement (1), inner longitudinal member (2), lower A- pillar (3) and upper A-pillar (4).
  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces (area V). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
