Prepare A-Pillar Outer Section For Installation - Ar63.20-P-1102-02SR

MODEL 453.3 

  1. Expose spot welds on section (5.1) and cut out (area W).

  2. Remove A-pillar inner section (5) from section (5.1).
  3. Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar inner section (5) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  4. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
  5. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on A-pillar outer section (1) in the crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

  7. Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
  9. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area N). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

  10. Grind mating surfaces on longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area O). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

  13. Assemble A-pillar outer section (1), longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4), fit and fix in place.
  14. Mark position of longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4) to one another.

    IMPORTANT Components must be assembled in removed state.

  15. Disassemble A-pillar outer section (1), longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A- pillar outer section reinforcement (4).
  16. Apply 2-component adhesive in areas N and O on longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  17. Longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas P 1 , P 2 and P3 ).

  18. Assemble A-pillar outer section (1), longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4), fit and fix in place.
  19. Mark position of A-pillar outer section (1) and longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) to one another.

    IMPORTANT Components must be assembled in removed state.

  20. Drill dia. 6.7 mm rivet holes A-pillar outer section (1), longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) (areas Q 1 and Q 2 ).

  21. Deburr rivet holes on A-pillar outer section (1) and longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) on both sides.

  22. Rivet A-pillar outer section (1) and longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) with 6.5 x 12.5 blind rivets (areas R and S).
  23. A-pillar outer section (1), longitudinal member outer shell on entry (3) and A-pillar outer section reinforcement (4) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas T, U 1 and U2 ).
