Bleed Brake System - AR42.10-P-0010SR

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
  Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
  Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid.
Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid
Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off ignition IMPORTANT The ignition must remain off for the entire duration of the bleeding process because the solenoid valves of the hydraulic unit must be in the deactivated state when bleeding.  
2 Detach maintenance flap and move away from working area    
CLEAN Clean     
3 Clean area around cap (2)    
4 Unscrew cap (2) of brake fluid reservoir (1)    
  Bleeding     
5 Fill with new brake fluid up to the "MAXI" mark in the brake fluid reservoir (1)    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Brake fluids (DOT 4 plus)   BB00.40-P-0331-00A
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS General brake fluid   BB00.40-P-0330-01A
6 REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS Connect filler/bleeder unit on brake fluid reservoir (1)

IMPORTANT Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions. WS25.00-P-0016B
7 Switch on filler/bleeder unit    
8 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift    
9 Carrying out bleeding operation   AR42.10-P-0010-02SR 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 01 82 00 Filling unit   WS25.00-P-0016B
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bleed screw on wheel brake cylinder *BA42.10-P-1001-08F 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bleed screw at brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1001-10SR 
10 Switch off filler/bleeder unit    
11 Lower vehicle with lifting platform    
12 Disconnect filler/bleeder unit from brake fluid reservoir (1)    
13 Operate brake pedal several times and then hold the pedal pressure IMPORTANT Hold the pedal pressure until a hard, constant pressure point stabilizes.
If the pressure in the brake system drops or the brake pedal sinks:

Locate and repair leak.
 
INSPECT Check     
14 Check entire hydraulic brake system for leaks, especially any previously loosened, disconnected or replaced components In the event of leakage:

Locate and repair leak.

REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS
Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir (1) Brake fluids (DOT 4 plus)   BB00.40-P-0331-00A
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS General brake fluid IMPORTANT The fluid level must be between the "MINI" and "MAXI" marks.
If the fluid level deviates:

Correct fluid level in brake fluid reservoir (1).

INSTALLING Install     
16 Screw cap (2) onto brake fluid reservoir (1)    
CLEAN Clean     
17 Clean cap (2) and brake fluid reservoir (1)    
18 Install maintenance flap
