Windshield Wipers, Windshield Washer System - Operational Inspection - AP82.35-P-8252MCC

  Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight-fitting safety glasses. No open flames, fire or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of the reach of children.   Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A 
  Preparatory activity     
1 Close liftgate, doors, sliding roof and side windows    
2 Switch on ignition    
INSPECT Check     
3 Check windshield spray nozzle (1) of windshield washer system for proper operation and adjustment, adjust if necessary IMPORTANT The spray jet must hit the windshield in the marked area.
If windshield spray nozzle (1) is clogged:

Subject to separate repair order, clean windshield spray nozzle (1) with suitable needle or blow out from inside to outside with compressed air.
If the cleaning is not successful:

Replace windshield spray nozzle (1), subject to separate repair order.
 
4 Check rear window spray nozzle (3) of windshield washer system on rear window for proper operation and adjustment, adjust if necessary Model 451.3, 453.0/3
IMPORTANT The spray jet must hit the windshield in the marked area.
If the rear window spray nozzle (3) cannot be adjusted and the spray pattern is incorrect:

Replace rear window spray nozzle (3), subject to separate repair order.
If rear window spray nozzle (3) is clogged:

Subject to separate repair order, clean rear window spray nozzle (3) with suitable needle or blow out from inside to outside with compressed air.
If the cleaning is not successful:

Replace windshield spray nozzle (1), subject to separate repair order.
 
5 Check park position of windshield wiper blades (2) IMPORTANT The ends of the wiper blades should be positioned on the A and B markings on the windshield and may be offset downward or upward by a maximum of 10 mm (0.39").
In the event of any deviation to the park position:

Check and adjust wiper arms subject to separate repair order.
 
6 Check adjustment of windshield wiper blades (2) NOTES
The windshield wiper blades (2) must not come into contact with the A-pillar or cowl.
The body or wiper mechanism will otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT Spray water over the windshield washer system on the windshield and switch on windshield wiper at highest setting.
If there are problems:

Repair the problem, subject to separate repair order.
 
7 Check adjustment of rear window wiper blade (4) Model 451.3, 453.0/3
NOTES
The rear window wiper blade (4) must not come into contact with anything.
The wiper mechanism will otherwise be damaged.
If the rear window wiper blade (4) is incorrectly adjusted:

Check and adjust wiper arms subject to separate repair order.

8 Switch off ignition
