Function
The headlamp range adjustment is installed as an item of passive safety equipment to prevent oncoming traffic from being dazzled. The incline angle of the low beam can be adapted to the different load conditions of the vehicle using the headlamp range adjustment
The headlamp range adjustment is adjusted manually by the driver using the electric headlamp range adjustment selector wheel (S11).
The electric headlamp range adjustment selector wheel has the following setting options:
- Position 0 - driver seat occupied or driver seat and front passenger seat occupied
- Position 1 - low load
- Position 2 - light load
- Position 3 - medium load
- Position 4 - heavy load
Actuation takes place from the electric headlamp range adjustment selector wheel straight to the left electric headlamp range adjustment motor (M36) on the left front lamp unit (E1) and to the right electric headlamp range adjustment motor (M37) on the right front lamp unit (E2).
