Separate Outer Side Longitudinal Member - Ar63.30-P-1050-01SRC

Model 453.3/4 

IMPORTANT The following operations steps describe a partial repair of the outer side longitudinal member; depending on the scope of damage, it is necessary to replace the entire outer side longitudinal member or side wall.

Shown on model 453.4 

  1. Mark and cut separating points on outer side longitudinal member (1) (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  2. Grind off beaded edge on wheel arch on outer side longitudinal member (1) (area C).
  3. Remove remaining piece of beaded edge of outer side longitudinal member (1).
  4. Expose spot welds on outer side longitudinal member (1) and cut out (areas D and E).
  5. Heat outer side longitudinal (1) with heat gun (area C).

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched area is bonded.

  6. Remove outer side longitudinal member (1).
  7. Remove remaining adhesive (area C).
  8. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  9. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  10. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area C).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
