Separate A-Pillar Outer Section - Ar63.20-P-1102-01SRC

Model 453.4 

  1. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (area A).

  2. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (area B, C, D, E and F).

  3. Heat A-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched area with heat gun (area G).

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched area is bonded.

  4. Remove A-pillar paneling (1).
  5. Remove remaining adhesive (area G).
  6. Mark separating point on A-pillar outer section (2) and cut (area H).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    h = approx. 32 mm

  7. Expose spot welds on A-pillar outer section (2) and cut out (area K).

  8. Expose spot welds on upper A-pillar outer section (3) and cut out (area M and N).
  9. Expose MIG solder seam on upper A-pillar outer section (3) and grind off (area L). 9

  10. Expose spot welds on A-pillar outer section (2) and cut out (area O and P).
  11. Remove A-pillar outer section (2) and upper A-pillar outer section.

  12. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  13. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  14. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area R).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
