Maintenance indicator on wiper blade

WARNING Risk of injury.  Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
  Preparatory activity     
1 Close hood and, if necessary, liftgate or rear-end door.    
2 Switch electronic ignition lock control unit to position "2" (circuit 15). Vehicle in which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down sufficiently far enough from the windshield.  
3 Switch on windshield wipers of windshield. Vehicle in which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down sufficiently far enough from the windshield.  
4 Switch electronic ignition lock control unit to position "0". Vehicle in which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down sufficiently far enough from the windshield.
NOTES
Do not switch on electronic ignition lock control unit until the wiper arms (1) have been folded away from the windshield or the rear window. Damage can otherwise occur.

Remove KEYLESS-GO chip card or transmitter key from vehicle and keep outside transmitter range (at least 2 m (78.74 inch)).
 
5 Fold out wiper arms (1) of windshield or rear window. NOTES
Secure wiper arms (1) against folding back in an uncontrolled manner onto the windshield or the rear window, and fold wiper arms (1) only with wiper blades (2) fitted onto the windshield or the rear window.
Damage can otherwise occur.
 
INSPECT Check     
6 Check maintenance display of wiper blades (2).
IMPORTANT
Wiper blades (2) with maintenance indicator.
If the protective foil is still present on the maintenance display,

Remove protective foil.
If the maintenance display is yellow,

Replace wiper blades (2).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
7 Check wiper blades (2) for proper mounting and damage. If problems exist,

Replace wiper blades (2).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
8.1 Check rubber profile (2a) of version A for hardening, cracks, wear and correct seating in the guides and end caps. Vehicle with version A.
If problems exist,

Replace wiper blades (2).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
8.2 Check rubber profile (2a) of version B for hardening, cracks, wear and correct seating in the guides and end caps. Vehicle with version B.
If problems exist,

Replace rubber profiles (2a) or complete wiper blades (2).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
  Finishing activity     
9 Restore vehicle to its initial state.
