1	Assess lining thickness (1) of brake linings on front axle	If necessary, use lamp (2) or mirror (3). The thickness of the pad backing plate can be used as a guide when assessing brake lining thickness.
		Brake shoe thickness If, in exceptional cases, assessment by means of visual inspection is not possible, ↓ remove wheels to conduct assessment, subject to separate repair order.	*BE42.10-P-1001-05K

3	Determine likely remaining distance of brake linings		AP42.10-P-4253-03EW
		Per axle, the brake pad with the least lining thickness is to be used for determining likely remaining distance. In order to avoid an unscheduled workshop visit between services, it is necessary to determine the remaining distance of the present brake linings. If the remaining distance determined is smaller than the next service interval, premature brake pad replacement should be recommended to the customer.
