When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m).

Risk of injury 

When working in the area of the windshield wiper mechanism, the wiper arm or the wiper linkage can be pressed out of its end position and unintentionally  start moving when in ignition key position "1" or "2". Serious injuries may occur here due to cutting, pinching or crushing of body parts.
