Location 

The electric vehicle sound generator in the vehicle at the front right under the maintenance flap.

Task 

The electric vehicle SOGE servers as a acoustic warning for other road users. This is intended to prevent the vehicle not being noticed or being noticed too late by other road users, particularly by pedestrians.

Depending on speed and accelerator pedal position, the electric vehicle sound generator generates an audio signal between 0 and 30 km/h. At speeds greater than 30 km/h, the sound generator is deactivated, as the vehicle's rolling and wind noises are loud enough. The electric vehicle SOGE is connected to the telematics CAN (CAN A). The sound generator consists of a control unit, an audio stage and a speaker.

The electric vehicle SOGE also active in reverse gear and in idle dependent on the legal requirements in the USA.

In Japan the electric vehicle SOGE can be disabled over the SOGE switch.
