Notes on D2B ring - AH82.70-P-0001-03MN

MODEL 215.### 1# as of 9/1/02, 220.### 1# as of 9/1/02 with CODE 803 (Model year 2003) 

• COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).
• Sound amplifier (A2/13) for sound system (code 810).
• CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6) with 6-disk CD changer (code 819).
• Telephone interface (A34/4) with MB cell phone (code 854). or

Telephone transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/13) with MB standard telephone (code 853). 

or 

Telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) with TELE AID (code 855).

• Voice control system control unit (A35/11) with voice control system (VCS) (code 813).

The information in the D2B ring only flows in one direction (arrows). The information enters in the white insert (white) in a fiber optic cable module M1 to M5 and exits again in the red insert (red) at the next ring component.

1. Before the D2B ring can be expanded it is first necessary to determine the actual vehicle configuration.

1. Determine and note actual configuration in vehicle.

Configuration with maximum equipment. 

At the same time they correspond to the ring sequence and the direction of the information flow (from 1 to 7) and they must be complied with when retrofitted. 

1. HU (Head Unit)
2. Sound amplifier (SA)
3. CD player with changer (SA)
4. Telephone (fixed installation or cell phone) or TELE AID (SA)
5. Voice Control System (SA)
6. Cell phone option (SA with MB standard telephone)
7. Head Unit (HU) COMAND

If special equipment (SA) is discontinued the corresponding item is deleted and this results in a new sequence.

1. Determining special equipment on vehicle, shown on model 220.

• Sound amplifier (A2/13) with sound system (code 810).  Open access flap in luggage compartment lining at left.
• CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6) with 6-disk CD changer (code 819).  Open access flap in luggage compartment lining at left.
• Telephone (fixed installation or cell phone)  Open stowage compartment of armrest.
• Voice control system. Switch on telephone,  press VCS switch (S93/2) on steering column tube, whistling noise sounds, voice control system present.

• TELE AID emergency call system 

  SOS push button (S93/3) present.

• Cell phone option 

  Open glove compartment.
