Notes on dealing with repair work on automatic transmission, continuously variable transmission (CVT) - AH27.00-P-0001-01AK
TRANSMISSION 722.8
General information:
- Ensure meticulous cleanliness during all operations. Even the smallest of dirt particles can impair the function of the transmission and may even cause it to break down.
- For repairs always wear oil-resistant, fiber-free gloves which are lined with rubber.
Notes on thrust link belt (SGB):
- The SGB is a precision-engineered product, whose proper operation can be impaired by incorrect repair procedures.
- The SGB must not be exposed to any mechanical stresses during the repair.
- The side surfaces of the SGB are particularly sensitive. Never touch the outer ring surfaces with metallic objects.
- The SGB may only be placed down carefully on a clean plastic or wooden surface.
- The SGB must always be stored where it is kept free of dirt and away from physical shock. We recommend storing the components in a clean plastic box with suitable cover. No other objects, e.g. screws/bolts, may be stored in the plastic box.
- The oil on the SGB may not be removed.
- Any cable ties attached to the SGB must be cut open on the inside of the SGB. This reduces the risk of damage to the ring surfaces.
- The SGB may only be removed from its packaging immediately prior to installed.
- Before installing the SGB, perform a visual inspection of the SGB. If there is mechanical damage, a new SGB must be installed.
- The SGB must never be disassembled.
