2	Assess wear pattern of tires on front and rear axle	Greater wear at the shoulder compared to the center of the tire is normal for the front wheel-and-tire assemblies. On the tires of the rear wheel-and-tire assemblies the wear at the center of the tread depth is mostly somewhat more pronounced than at the tire shoulders. In event of unusual tire pattern: ↓ Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
3	Assess tread depth of tires on front and rear axle	The main tread along the entire circumference must have a minimum tread depth of at least 1.6 mm (0.06"). Assess tread depth at point of greatest wear. Assess the tread depth on the outside, inside and at the center of the main tread using the "TWIs" (Tread Wear Indicators). The height of the "TWIs" (Tread Wear Indicators) is 1.6 mm (0.06"). For safety reasons tires should be replaced before reaching the minimum tread depth: Summer tires at approx. 3 mm (0.12") tread depth Winter tires at approx. 4 mm (0.16") tread depth. The specified tread depths apply for the Federal Republic of Germany. Other country-specific instructions must be observed accordingly. At the latest when reaching the minimum tread depth: ↓ Replace tires subject to separate repair order.
