Check and correct power steering fluid level - AP46.00-P-4611EW

REMOVING Remove     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Open engine hood    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.40-P-1000EW
    IMPORTANT MODEL 207, 212 with CODE U60 (Pedestrian protection)
Moving the engine hood to the vertical position: 
Detach the left and right clamping lever at the top of the left and right engine hood hinge.
 
3.1 Remove left engine intake air duct (3) ENGINE 272, 273  
3.2 Remove upper engine cover ENGINE 642, 651
NOTES
Place upper engine cover onto padded base.
Otherwise damage will be unavoidable.
 
3.3 Remove front engine cover ENGINE 156
NOTES
Lift the front engine cover straight up without tilting it and place it down on a padded base. Otherwise damage will be unavoidable.
 
4 Remove cap (1) of power steering expansion reservoir (2) NOTES
Before opening the hydraulic circuit of the power steering, thoroughly clean the surrounding area of the separation point. Even minute particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can result in malfunctions and damage to the power steering.
IMPORTANT Press the cap (1) downwards and turn counterclockwise through 90°.
 
5 Wipe off oil dipstick (1a) with a fluff-free rag and seal the expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1) IMPORTANT Press the cap (1) downwards and turn clockwise through 90°.  
INSPECT Check     
6 Remove cap (1) and read off oil level on oil dipstick (1a), correct oil level if necessary IMPORTANT Observe oil temperature and markings on oil dipstick (1a). The oil level must be located on the maximum marking corresponding to the oil temperature.
IMPORTANT In order to avoid measurement errors, hold the oil dipstick (1a) upright.
IMPORTANT If oil level is too low, determine cause and eliminate subject to a separate repair order.
 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Power steering *BF46.20-P-1001-01E 
INSTALLING Install     
7 Seal expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1)    
8.1 Install left engine intake air duct (3) ENGINE 272, 273  
8.2 Install upper engine cover ENGINE 642, 651
IMPORTANT Only install upper engine cover after completing all maintenance operations.
 
8.3 Fit front engine cover ENGINE 156
IMPORTANT Only install the front engine cover after completing all the maintenance operations.
 
9 Close engine hood    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.40-P-1000EW
    IMPORTANT MODEL 207, 212 with CODE U60 (Pedestrian protection)
Mount left and right clamping lever onto top on left and right engine hood hinge.
