	Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.	Do not perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.	AS83.00-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1.1	Perform disable for the high-voltage on-board electrical system	Model 451.391/491 After completing the work, attach initial startup event log together with the power disable event log to the vehicle file.	AR54.10-P-1160MEV
1.2	Connect Star Diagnosis and enable high voltage on-board electrical system	Model 451.390/392/490/492

4	Disconnect air conditioning service unit

5	Open retaining clip (2), expose electrical connector (1) and disconnect

7	Pull retaining plate (5) forward on refrigerant lines (4)
8	Disconnect electrical connection (6) from refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)

9	Unclip hydraulic fluid reservoir (8) in the area marked (arrow) using a suitable screwdriver (7) and place to one side

11	Disconnect heating or A/C electrical connector (X85/10)

13	Remove bolt (17) and remove cover (18)
14	Disconnect electrical connector (19)

		Model 451.390/392/490/492 When replacing the air conditioner housing (13), completely remove the high-voltage PTC heater.	AR83.70-P-8001MEX
16	Cover connector and connector of high-voltage PTC heater (R23x1) electrical connection with protective covers	Cover plug and connector of high-voltage PTC heater electrical connection (R23x1) with protective covers. Otherwise, ingressing dirt and moisture may damage the components.

17	Detach drain hose (24) from air conditioner housing (13)	Ensure that drain hose (24) is seated correctly at connection of air conditioner housing (13).
18	Place left front floor covering (23) to one side in vicinity of air conditioner housing (13)
19	Unscrew all nuts (9) from air conditioner housing (13)	As soon as the openings of the refrigerant lines (4) and the electric expansion valve (interior) (Y19/1) are accessible due to detaching the air conditioner housing (13), close them off using suitable plugs. Otherwise penetrating dirt and moisture will damage components that are connected to the refrigerant circuit.
20	Remove telestart receiver unit (A6/2) from air conditioner housing (13) and put to one side with electrical lines connected
21	Remove air conditioner housing (13) from vehicle	Carefully remove air conditioner housing (13) from vehicle. Otherwise components in the interior could be damaged. Ensure that the refrigerant lines (4) run into the electric expansion valve (interior) (Y19/1). Aid of helper required.
22	Remove sealing rings at refrigerant lines (4)
	Compressor oils (specification 362.0)	Replace sealing rings and moisten with compressor oil when installing.	MB 362.0 compressor oil A 001 989 08 03
23	Disconnect electrical connection (20) from air recirculation flap actuator motor (M39)	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
24	Detach air recirculation unit (21) from air conditioner housing (13) by twisting and remove	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
25	Disconnect electrical connection (14), unscrew bolts (15) and remove blend air flap actuator (M16/8)	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13). Counterhold driver shaft on opposite side of air conditioner housing (13).
26	Disconnect electrical connection (16) and pull evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6) out of air conditioner housing (13)	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
27	Disconnect electrical connection (11), release lock (10) and loosen blower motor (M2) by turning counterclockwise and pull out of air conditioner housing (13)	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
28	Disconnect electrical connection (12) and release blower motor series resistor group (R14) by twisting clockwise and remove	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
29	Detach electrical wiring harness of air conditioner housing (22) at air conditioner housing (13) and remove	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
30	Remove activated charcoal fine particle filter	When replacing the air conditioner housing (13).
		Model 451.39/49 with code I01 (Air conditioning Plus)	AP83.00-P-8384MCC
31	Unscrew bolts (25) and remove electric expansion valve (interior) (Y19/1)	Model 451.39/49 with code V03 (Battery cooling system) When replacing the air conditioner housing (13). The electric expansion valve (interior) (Y19/1) must be replaced with the expansion valve on the new part.
32	Install in the reverse order
