The tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) system messages are shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). Depending on the warning message, the tire pressure monitor warning lamp (A1e66) is also actuated as follows:
- In vehicles up to AJ12 except CODE 494 (USA version) the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster is permanently actuated in the event of a TPM system malfunction.
- In vehicles as of AJ12 or with CODE 494 (USA version) the tire pressure monitor warning lamp in the instrument cluster will flash for t = 60 s when the TPM system malfunctions. Then it will be actuated permanently.
In the event of messages in the instrument cluster a distinction is made between the following two types:
Menu display 1
The TPM [RDK] system is not available until the "circuit 15 ON" status.
Menu display 2
Normal condition, display of pressure display:
- No fault
- Vehicle wheels detected and assigned to positions
- Current pressure signals are available
- Menu displays
- Warning messages
The menu displays can be called up in the instrument cluster over the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) in the "Service/tire pressure" menu.
Warning messages are issued automatically.

Menu display 4
Status picture in event of fault, the TPM system is nonfunctional. Possible causes are:
- System shutoff due to fault (diagnosis fault entry) or tire pressure monitor (TPM) [RDK] control unit (N88) nonfunctional (shutoff due to malfunction)
- Temporary fault (overvoltage/undervoltage, radio interference)
- The instrument cluster does not receive any messages from the tire pressure monitor (TPM) [RDK] control unit

Status indication of TPM [RDK] system after ignition restart (Status "Circuit 15 ON"). There are still no high frequency (HF) signals (433 MHz) from the left front tire pressure sensor (A69/1), right front tire pressure sensor (A69/2), left rear tire pressure sensor (A69/3) and right rear tire pressure sensor (A69/4). When the wheels are already known to the system, the pressure picture appears shortly after the start of a trip. It can take a few minutes until the position identification is learnt with new wheels.
A manual restart is possible by pressing the scroll forward and back button in the lower subfield and then the OK button.

The tire pressure sensors are all missing. Possible causes are:
- TPM [RDK] does not receive any signals from the tire pressure sensors
- Wheels are fitted without tire pressure sensors
Warning message 1
The TPM [RDK] system is nonfunctional. Possible causes are:
- Instrument cluster does not receive any valid Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) signals from the tire pressure monitoring control unit
- Tire pressure monitor control unit nonfunctional (shutoff of tire pressure monitor system on account of malfunction)
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is permanently actuated in the instrument cluster up to AJ12 except CODE 494 (USA version) or flashes for t = 60 seconds, and is then permanently actuated (as of AJ12 or CODE 494 (USA version)). Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.
Warning message 2
During the preceding ignition sequence the TPM system is found to exhibit a minor pressure loss of p = 0.25 bar (up to AJ12) or of 12 % (as of AJ12). After "Circuit 15 OFF" status (up to AJ12) or during an actual journey (as of AJ12) a reference is made to the tire inflation pressure correction that is due.
The warning is displayed without the position being specified.
Warning message 3
The TPM [RDK] system has detected a tire pressure loss (p < p_specified - -20 %) and assigned it to the corresponding wheel.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.
Warning message 4
The tire pressure monitor has detected a significant pressure loss in one or more tires (p < p_specified -20 %). The wheel position is not assigned.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.
Warning message 5
The tire pressure monitor system has detected a rapid pressure loss in one or more tires (dp/dt > 0.2 bar/min.). The corresponding wheel position is assigned.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.
Warning message 6
The tire pressure monitor system has detected a rapid pressure loss in one or more tires (dp/dt > 0.2 bar/min.). The wheel position is not assigned.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is actuated permanently and an acoustic message takes place.
Warning message 7
The tire pressure monitoring system has detected filling of the tire, but the new tire air pressure values are implausible. The previous warning thresholds are retained.
The message is displayed until a pressure correction or manual reactivation takes place.
Warning message 8
The tire pressure monitor control unit is unable to receive signals from the tire pressure sensors.
Possible cause: Wheels fitted without tire pressure sensor.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is permanently actuated in the instrument cluster (up to AJ12 except CODE 494 (USA version)) or flashes for t = 60 seconds and is then permanently actuated (as of AJ12 or CODE 494 (USA version)). Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.
Warning message 9
The TPM [RDK] system is temporarily inactive because of transmission interference or because the voltage is too high or too low.
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is permanently actuated in the instrument cluster (up to AJ12 except CODE 494 (USA version)) or flashes for t = 60 seconds and is then permanently actuated (as of AJ12 or CODE 494 (USA version)). Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.
Warning message 10
The tire pressure monitoring system does not detect all the tire pressure sensors.
Possible causes:
- Spare tire fitted without tire pressure sensor
- Tire pressure sensor defective
- Tire pressure sensor battery flat
- Overtemperature
The tire pressure monitor warning lamp is permanently actuated in the instrument cluster (up to AJ12 except CODE 494 (USA version)) or flashes for t = 60 seconds and is then permanently actuated (as of AJ12 or CODE 494 (USA version)). Following the next ignition sequence, this procedure will repeat itself until the fault is eliminated.
