Location

The TV tuner (analog/digital) is located at the right rear in the trunk behind the paneling on a bracket.

Task

Receive signals

Direct lines

CAN (with code (864) Rear entertainment system)

The TV tuner (analog/digital) is a subscriber of the telematics CAN (CAN A) and communicates with the following control units:

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

The TV tuner (analog/digital) is a subscriber of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

Demodulating and decoding signals

The received TV signals are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.

Transmit signals

Direct line

CAN (with code (864) Rear entertainment system)

The TV tuner (analog/digital) is a telematics CAN subscriber and it communicates with the following control units:

MOST

The TV tuner (analog/digital) is a subscriber of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND controller unit. The audio signals are transmitted to the COMAND controller unit or the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system).

Technical data
Designation

Minimum voltage VV ≤9 ±0, 2 Minimum UBmin
If the voltage drops below the minimum value (UBmin ), all data in the volatile memories is lost.
Special features       The IS tester can access the diagnostic system of the TV tuner (analog/digital) via the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73), the interior CAN (CAN B), the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) and the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). The following service functions are supported:
  • Control unit identification
  • Fault management
  • Read fault list
  • Read freeze frame data of a fault
  • Delete fault codes
  • Wiring test of TV antenna amplifier and audio/video lines for short circuit and connection
  • Read current signal strength - TV antenna amplifier switched on or off
  • Read mean signal strength value - TV antenna amplifier switched on or off
  • Antenna use (TV performs long-term observation)
  • Test picture and test audio
  • Programming TV parameters, i.e. National settings and audio and video lines used
  • Read TV parameters
  • Control module reset
  • Write and read permanent channel list for special usage areas (workshop list)
Flash capability/coding capability       Profi-compatible flashable/SCN coding
