The digital TV tuner is located at the right rear in the trunk behind the paneling on a bracket.

Direct lines

The digital TV tuner receives the following signals:

Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30 via one direct line each
Electronic wake-up for MOST via a direct line
TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1) via a coaxial cable
TV 2 antenna amplifier (A94/2) via a coaxial cable
TV 3 antenna amplifier (A94/3) via a coaxial cable

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

The digital TV tuner is a participant of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).

Demodulating and decoding signals

The TV signals that are received via the antenna amplifier are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.

Transmitting signals

Signals are transmitted via the following lines:

Power supply via signal line to the following antenna amplifiers: TV 1 antenna amplifier, TV 2 antenna amplifier, TV 3 antenna amplifier
Video signals via Y/C lines (Y brightness (luminance) / C color information (chrominance)) to the COMAND controller unit

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND controller unit. The audio signals are transmitted to the COMAND controller unit or the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)).

Body

With CODE 498 (Japan version) the digital TV tuner is delivered with a "B-CAS card". The "B-CAS card" is designed as a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader does not have a cover.
