Cross out erroneous vehicle identification number with letter stamp "X" in stamping field (2).
The required position for the punch field (1) (spare field) can be determined by turning the window plate (5).
Turn window plate (5) to spare field.
Observe position (l) of window plate!
Start with "Mercedes star" symbol stamp at far left in window plate (5).
The tip of the mercedes star must point upward.
Then position letter stamp "W" with left edge on first increment on scale of window plate (5) in stamping field (1) and stamp in.
Move forward one increment mark on the scale in the window plate (5) with each subsequent letter stamp until the complete vehicle identification number and final Mercedes star have been stamped in the crossmember below the right driver seat.
The overall width of the vehicle identification number is 106 mm (±4).
Remove stamping guide.
